In Honor of Reverend Dr. Alphonso Jackson, Sr.

Rev. Dr. Alphonso Jackson Sr. began his pastoral journey at Second Baptist Church on October 1, 2000, where he continues to serve faithfully as Senior Pastor and Teacher. Over the past 25 years, he has led the church with a strong commitment to both spiritual growth and community impact, guiding the congregation to over 3,200 members. Under his leadership, Second Baptist has remained true to its mission as “The Church in the Heart of the Community, With the Community at Heart.”

During his tenure, Dr. Jackson has overseen numerous ministry expansions and community development projects, including the creation of the John and Anita Ferguson Apartment Homes—an 89-unit affordable housing complex for seniors in Richmond Heights. His vision has strengthened the church’s presence in Miami-Dade County, fostering outreach, education, and empowerment programs that uplift the community spiritually, socially, and economically.

For a quarter of a century, Rev. Dr. Alphonso Jackson Sr. has served with unwavering dedication, transforming Second Baptist Church into a thriving beacon of faith, service, and love.
