Safe in His Arms: Remembering Sis. Georgia B. Walker

On Friday, August 29, 2025, the doors of Second Baptist Church Main Sanctuary will open to celebrate the life and legacy of Sis. Georgia B. Walker, a faithful servant of God and a cherished member of our church family.

Sis. Walker was more than a name on a program — she was a woman of unwavering faith, a quiet strength in times of storm, and a gentle light in the lives of all who knew her. Her life testified to the goodness of God and the power of a heart rooted in love.

Even in her final days, Sis. Walker remained a reminder that “to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). She faced life with courage, carried her burdens with grace, and gave to others without hesitation. To her family, she was a source of love and stability. To her friends, she was loyal and true. To her church, she was a devoted sister who left behind a testimony of faithfulness.

As we gather to say goodbye, there is a heaviness in our spirits. The absence of her presence is felt in every pew, in every prayer, and in every embrace shared between those who loved her. Yet, we do not grieve as those without hope. We grieve knowing that God has promised: “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying…” (Revelation 21:4).

Her homegoing is not the end, but the beginning of her eternal rest. The same God who walked with her through every valley now welcomes her into His arms, where peace has no end.

Today, we mourn, but we also give thanks — thanks for every smile, every lesson, and every moment God allowed us to share with Sis. Georgia B. Walker. Though her voice is silent, her love still speaks. Though her chair is empty, her spirit still fills the room.

She has fought the good fight, she has finished her course, she has kept the faith. And now, she wears her crown of righteousness.
